Shhhhhhh!

Sometimes it is so hard not to respond. We are often easily provoked and suddenly react without thinking about the consequences. I suppose that is why, along with other root causes I'm sure, that there is so much of, what we call "road rage" today. I have not personally seen it nor have I been involved in such an incident but I can easily see how it could happen. I notice it when I'm a passenger in a car and I hear what the frustrated driver on my end is saying. Sometimes I wonder if it is the same mild mannered person I associate with when he or she is not behind the wheel. I wonder if David would have responded with "road rage" if he and King Saul had actually encountered each other. Actually they did, and each time David acted with such restraint that he held his tongue and would not talk against King Saul even though Saul wanted to kill David. (1 Samuel 24:10) Even when King Saul died, David did not speak ill of him but rather gave him the respect he may not have even deserved. (1st Samuel 31-2nd Samuel 32). It is a discipline to hold your peace when you are obviously "right" but let's say we all try it at least once each day when we enter those inevitable situations. Shhhhhhh!
