Dressed To Kill

Kill in this expression means no more here than to wow or impress. It is a hyperbolic way of saying one would or might overwhelm someone of the opposite sex by one's good looks, clothes or personality. This can also be seen by many women who observe men in military uniform - dressed to kill especially if they are also fully armed.

King David in the Bible was going out to fight Goliath. Saul thought that David could use his armor. However when David put it on, it did not fit. He was NOT dressed to kill. The priests in the Old Testament were meticulously dressed according to that prescribed by the directions God gave Moses. They were dressed to kill - albeit sin.

We too should be dressed to kill. We are required (Ephesians 6) to dress up in salvation, righteousness, truth, peace, faith, the Word of God, prayer and the Spirit of God. Then we too will be dressed to kill - albeit sin.
