He Spit On Me
He was a bus driver. There were many well mannered children he transported but he also had his share of those who were not only disrespectful but rude and inconsiderate. One such child spit on him while being given instructions for his own safety. Express rage or hug him? What would you do?
I saw a news clip just this week where a suspect who had just been apprehended, spit on the police officer who had cuffed him. The rage boiled up in the officer so strong that he kicked, punched and brutally injured the suspect. Was he wrong? The police department disciplined him and sent him to anger management classes.
Could the bus driver have done this to the child? He could have --- but he didn't. Per the rules that he had been given, he reported the child to the proper school authorities. When asked why he didn't retaliate against the child, he responded that if the child had spit on him BEFORE he accepted Christ as his Savior, he would have.
Luke 19:32 says Jesus already knew that they would spit on Him. Mark 15:19 says they actually did spit on him. Mark 15:5 says that throughout the accusations, Jesus answered nothing. What would you have done?
