Trumped

Is Number 45 the 21st century Cyrus? There are a number of Christians who allude to Number 45 as a type of Cyrus. In the Old Testament, Nehemiah went to King Cyrus because he was troubled about the walls of Jerusalem being torn down (Nehemiah 2:1-8) God even called Cyrus His anointed (Isaiah 45:1) and Nehemiah was given permission to go and prepare to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.

Just Thinking:

King Cyrus was used by God during Old Testament times, i.e., before the coming of Jesus Christ. We are to now walk in the spirit, not according to the works of the flesh (Romans 8:1, Galatians 5:16). Note that when the demons recognized who Jesus was, Jesus did not permit them to speak. Mark 1:34

In Acts 16:17,18, Paul was being followed by a certain damsel who had a spirit of divination. She cried, these men are servants of the most high God which show us the way of salvation. Paul being grieved, commanded the spirit to come out of her.

The seven sons of Sceva attempted to use the name of Jesus but they were doing this by evil spirits. The evil spirit answered and said, "Jesus I know and Paul I know but who are you?" They were chased out of the house naked and wounded. Acts 19:14-16

God's ways are not our ways and our ways are not His and He uses whom He chooses. However, I wonder if we have been trumped into not fulfilling the call of God upon our lives? The Old Testament declares in 2 Chronicles 7:14 that His people, called by His name should humble themselves and pray, seek His face, turn from wicked ways; then He will hear from heaven, forgive sin and heal the land.

1 Timothy 2:1-4 “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.”

When we cast our selection, the veil of the curtain is closed and our choice is just that - our choice. I am grateful that only God truly knows the heart of a man. Whether a person professes Christianity or not, we can only look at the fruit tree to see what type of fruit it bears. Are you playing your trump card?
