We Are Not Alone
The Lone Ranger is a fictional masked former Texas Ranger who fought outlaws in the American Old West with his Native American friend, Tonto. Yes, even the Lone Ranger had Tonto. His character may have been inspired by a real life Black U.S. Marshall. His name was Bass Reeves. Bass was born in slavery and he was the first black deputy U.S. Marshall west of the Mississippi. During his career, he was credited with arresting more than 3000 felons. He shot and killed 14 outlaws but he himself was never wounded. He was not alone.
God sets the solitary in families (Psalm 68:6); one in each family that may be the very one to affect you or someone that you know or love. You are not alone. Elisha asked God to open the eyes of his servant so that he could see that those that were with them were more than those that were against them (2 Kings 6:16). Elisha thought that he was alone after he was threatened by Jezebel but God let him know that He had seven thousand in Israel, all who had not bowed their knee nor kissed Baal (1 Kings 19:18). Jesus promised that He would never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). Jesus said that He had to go away but He would send another Comforter who would be with us and in us (John 14:17). We are not alone.
