Give Me A Sign

The daddy promised his little girl that he had to go out and she wanted desperately to go with him. He told her that she could not go this time but he would bring her something back. She asked him to promise. He assured her that he always kept his promise and that if he told her he was going to bring her something, he would keep his promise.

We want assurance, a sign if you will, that the person is going to do what they say. God spoke through Moses out of the midst of a burning bush (Exodus 3:2) and He turned a rod into a serpent (Exodus 4:2,3). Gideon set out a fleece (Judges 6:11-40) to ensure that it really was God talking to him and that He would do what He said He would do.

God has given us, even today, a sign that was promised to Noah (Genesis 8:21-9:16). It was not sufficient for God to just tell us that He would not curse the ground anymore for man's sake; that He would not smite everything any more every thing living, as He had done; that as long as the earth remains, seed-time and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. God by His grace and mercy and as a sign to us gave us a token; a bow. Do you believe that or do you need a sign?
