Fighting Goliath With Saul's Armor
It was my last assignment before retiring and it was one of my largest projects. It had to be completed in a relatively short period of time and all the components needed to complete the project were not in place. Not only were they not in place but the probability of them being in place was remote and virtually non-existent. I had planned as best as I could and there was nothing else that I knew to do. I had literally exhausted all of my resources. What do you do when you are in a battle and you've contacted all the right people, allotted for any and all possible mishaps, etc., and the project is still doomed to fail? I could no longer count on my education and knowledge, preparation or good management skills. I felt as if I was fighting Goliath with Saul's armor and I was. I neglected the most important ingredient - talking to God and letting Him lead me.
There were some vagabond Jews who thought that they could cast out evil spirits by calling on the Jesus that Paul preached. They tried to wear someone else's armor and were surprised when the evil spirits did not know them and rather jumped on them and overcame them and ran them out of the house naked and wounded. Acts 19:13-16
We all want the glory that God has or the ability that He has bestowed upon someone else not realizing that our own armor must be tried and fit for the battle. Gratefully, I remembered and made the spiritual adjustment and everything worked out well and on time. Whose armor are you wearing today? Do you think it's time to change into your own armor?
