To Have and to Trust
When I was very young, I went to a wedding of a relative. I was so confused when the preacher asked if the groom and the bride took each other to be their "'awfully" wedded spouse. I remember asking my mother why would anyone want someone to be their awfully wedded spouse? My misunderstanding of the word awful for lawful was kind of funny at the time but sadly so many of our marriages today turn out to be awful. One of the many reasons that many marriages turn out to be awful is because of money. The story recounted in Mark 10:17-24 has Jesus explaining to his disciples how hardly (KJV) shall they that trust in riches to enter the kingdom of God.The blessing is that Jesus clarified that it was not wrong to have riches but it is wrong to trust in riches. Do you have a spouse but don't trust them? To have and to trust is a great foundation for building a marriage and having and trusting Jesus for entering the kingdom of God.
